At The Future Leaders Academy, we often say leadership isn’t a title — it’s a mindset. But sometimes, that mindset leads to a title. And when it does, it’s not just the learner who celebrates. It’s the whole village.

One of our learners, Future Leader Lerato, joined the Academy with quiet confidence and a deep desire to grow. She was thoughtful, observant, and often the last to speak — but when she did, her words carried weight.

Through our public speaking and leadership modules, Future Leader Lerato began to find her voice. She learned how to structure her thoughts, speak with conviction, and lead with empathy. Her servant leader mentor noticed her growth and encouraged her to apply for a prefect position at her school.

She hesitated. “I’m not sure I’m the type,” she said.

But leadership isn’t about being a type. It’s about being true.

Future Leader Lerato applied. She prepared her speech with the same tools she learned at Future Leaders Academy. She stood in front of her peers and spoke not about herself, but about service, kindness, and courage.

She was elected.

And when she came home with her prefect badge, her mother cried.

I always knew she had something special,” her mom said. “But now the world sees it too.

This is what we mean by impact. It’s not just about skills. It’s about confidence. It’s about visibility. It’s about a mother seeing her child step into purpose — and a community watching that child become a leader.

Why We Share These Stories

We believe in scaling with heart, not haste. Every learner matters. Every story counts. And every partnership helps us reach more Leratos — young people who are ready to lead, if only someone believes in them.

If you’re part of a CSI programme that invests in youth development, we’d love to talk. Together, we can build a generation of leaders who don’t just wear badges — they carry legacies.
